Laurence (“Klarc”) Clark

Born: Whangarei 1949
Educated: Whangarei Boys High School
Joined NZ Herald Art Department 1967
At the same time, studied art at Auckland University and Auckland Technical Institute (now AUT)
Contributed cartoons to Auckland University student newspaper and capping magazine – exhibited paintings, drawings and sculpture in the early ‘70s
Later, co-edited and contributed to “Strips” magazine
In 1987, became NZ Herald daily editorial cartoonist till 1996, then weekly till 2000
Comic strips and political cartoons published and exhibited in New Zealand and overseas
A large collection of “Klarc” cartoons held by NZ Cartoon Archive Trust in Wellington (www.cartoons.org.nz)
Currently freelancing from Whangarei studio
